I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 1520 and installed Microsoft Office 2007 Professional (Academic Version) onto it. I of course, activated it, thinking there would be no problems. I ended up returning the 1520 because of I was not happy with my purchase. I am currently waiting for the M1330 to ship to me.

My question is, can I install Microsoft Office 2007 Professional (Academic Version) on my new laptop with ease, or am I going to have to speak to Microsoft to have them activate it over the phone?

Any help or insight into this would be great.

    Thanks!

Was it a copy that you received from dell? Then probably not.

If it was your own copy, then you might have a shot at calling microsoft support and trying to get them to release your version back to you.

    much luck

I purchased the copy separately. As a teacher, I just discovered I can find some nice academic discounts on software. Only took me 5 years to finally realize this!

I remember when I would do clean installs of XP on my current desktop and laptop, upon reinstalling Office 2003, I would have to speak to activation people from Microsoft, but in India. I would read them my code, and they'd give me this giant code to enter into my software. Was not a fun time!

Yeah...looks like you may have to relive the experience...sorry...but hey...you got a discount. Don't forget to look at MSDNAA for free software for academic stuff

As long as I can get Office 2007 up and running, I'll be fine! Just need that M1330 shipped to me already...

I don't know about the academic version, but the 2007 student and home version allows installation on 3 computers... I think.

I don't think that is right...you must have had a different (builder's) license or something
