I am sorry if I am a little naive about this stuff, but I am not much of a computer geek. If I buy this program can I install it in three different computers? Do they have to be my own computers or can it be in three say three different non related friends? Can I buy it and install it in my computer and then send it to my friend in California for his coputer, etc. Can someone tell me how this process works. My old version 2000, I thnk I was able to install in all my computers with no limitations. Thanks

I haven't read the license in detail, but the spirit of the license at least is supposed to be more like 3 PC's that are under your control (i.e. so if you have a desktop PC and a laptop, for example, you can install it on both).

The purpose of the license isn't really supposed to be that you install it on your PC and then send it to your friend somewhere else to install it as well. It's to make it more convenient for you to continue running Office 2007 if you do have more than one computer (again, the most common example is someone who needs to install it on their desktop and their laptop). The other idea there might be a family who has a couple of computers in the house or something.

Having said that, I don't think there's anything that would prevent you from doing it (as long as no more than 3 PC's total were authorized), but I imagine that if you read the license in detail, it probably does have some language that might prevent that kind of use.

yes it is 2 computers that you own...like a laptop and a desktop or 2 destop in different part of the house.

If you give the cd to one of your buddy and he install it you are violating the licence period and it is no different from you downloading a warez copy of office.

I should mention that the 3pc license is only for Office 2007 Student & Home, check the asterik (*) mark next time you see a copy in the store. :( I wish it was for the others too.

I have a problem. Relates to Office 2003 licence issue (same principle as above).

I have already used the third licence on various laptops I have bought over the years (all laptops were my own personal ones).
The last laptop I have bought may need to be reset to factory settings. Will I be able to reload office 2003 seeing I have already used my third licence? (will activation work?)
Would I have to buy a new version of Office to reload if I reload windows and the reset the laptop? (Laptop is IBM T43p and I may need to do factory reset).
