    Hello

Today in class my instructor told us about Microsoft Office 2007 Ulimate for $60 - student discount? I checked Microsoft.com and it's sold at around $600. I know it's a good deal, but is it worth it?

Some people really like it and some don't. Most people tend to agree that the UI is a huge improvement over the previous versions but it does take sometime to learn it.

If you compared it like this, like Office XP -> Office 2003 I wouldn't have upgraded. But if Office 2003 -> Office 2007, I would considering the price is only $60.

Woow, $60? I'd buy it in a second. When you get used to the new interface, you can do stuff much faster.

Before buying it some universities do give out free copies for faculty and some even do it for students. I would check with the university before buying it for $60. Also check if you university offers MSDNAA acess, if you do then you might be able to get it through that service as well.

But overall for $60 Office Ultimate is a very good deal. The regular Student version costs twice as what MS is offering with this deal. One negative for Office07 is that other than Word, Powerpoint andEexcel where the ribbon interface is very well done the rest of the stuff is pretty similar to '03.

I believe Microsoft is offering a trial version (fully functional, I believe) on their Office website. May be worth downloading and installing to get a feel for it, so you can decide whether you like it over previous versions.

    Take a look here:

But, for $60? REALLY good price on that. Wanna get me a copy, too? :D

Although, not likely. But I think the EULA does say something like MS reserves the right to check if your actually an university student with .5 credits and failure to do so, you would be charged the full price of MS Office 2007 Ultimate.

About that MSDN thing, yeah you really should look into that as a lot of schools do provide you free access anyways. Like, I've known some people who even register for a computer science class just to get Vista/Office etc for free then drop out :/

Yeah, I know. I was just kidding. With the Genuine Advantage stuff, you never know when your stuff will just not be "legal" anymore, so it's not worth the risk.

Most definitely worth it. I downloaded it about a week or two ago and it installed and activated flawlessly. I am impressed. It really is quite a steal for $60. :p

It's a promotion Microsoft is doing. To keep students from being tempted from pirating Office 2007, they are offering it for $60.

OneNote is the one program to rule them all. I have all these saved websites organized on my harddrive that I'm not trying to organize into notebooks. I wish Vista was this useful....

Nice price, but I don't know why they offer the Ultimate version. I'd prefer the Home & Student version, I don't need all the extra features...

Anyway, I found this googling and the offer already expired in my country (plus, I am not at university yet, I'm starting this next year)

So, is there any chance I can buy this? Is there any similar offer but with Home & Student?

Also, is it only in English or can you choose Spanish?

    Thanks!
