Hi guys, i have mistaken purchased a copy of Microsoft Office 2007 home and student OEM =( , costed me extra 159$ dang. I wonder if it will work on other computers brand than Dell ?? I searched everywhere, everyone gives me different answers. Most of the people suggest Retail. I would try to sell it on ebay ,i know its against the laws of ebay but screw them , i just want a portion of what i lost.

-I know that Microsoft Windows XP requires a "Activation Code" if installed on other computer than Dell but it can be bypassed easily. So i wonder, if it'll work on other computers? I can't open it to try because if i do, it'll worth nothing since it won't be sealed. Thanks for reading guys !!!

I don't know, some software does require to be installed on the system it was bought with, some don't.

Contact Dell and ask them if you could install it on 'your' HP machine with no problems.

We don't want to hear about your illegal behavior, so keep it off the forums.

OEM software can only be installed on the original computer it came with *legally*. Now, are you sure MS Office Student is OEM though?

No intention of arguing, but it is possible for one to get all Windows software for free (or at least very cheap) if one is a student. Although options are limited, the real Microsoft software one probably needs is just the OS, and then Office (which I dont think is free...it cost me like $70 for Office 2007 Professional). However these costs compared to the real costs may seem like free to the poster above.

Ah, well then my apologies nocturnal. I'm aware of student discounts, but I have to deal with a lot of pirates on the forums. I probably close a few threads a week on how to crack software.

Back to topic though...I didn't think the student version of anything was OEM...is the OP sure?

I don't know , it doesn't have any boxing but its sealed within a small cd pochet , but not cheap papers. Then behind , theres a authencity certificate aglong with Dell - Microsoft R Office Home & student 2007 (OEM) but in front of the cd case, there's nothing about OEM , all its written is Microsft Office Home and Student 2007. I heard that Microsoft doesn't give a damn about if the software will install or not. How come OEM of this software doesn't exist?

    Here's a picture of it ...

whenever i would reformat my system and reinstall all my microsoft software, i would just call up microsoft telling them that im just reinstalling and they would activate it for me.. so i dont see why it wouldn't work if you just uninstall it from your current system and just say that you are reinstalling..

Hmmm...that isn't a Dell specific CD and if it does not say OEM...I'd wager that you could freely install it on another machine (provided you follow EULA rules and install it only on one permanently stationed and one mobile system).

You might want to delete that link. It is not allowed to post links to pirated software on the forum. It also wouldn't surprise me if it is infested with viruses.

I think you just gave away your MS Office key by posting that.. I would take that off if you want to 'reduce' your loses..
