thanks for that Tinderbox + rep
-
It's been around for ages, hasn't it?
I've had the Beta for months now... -
first time ive seen it
-
I've had my SSD since the 24th of November - I've used Office 2010 Beta a little bit earlier already...
The closed Technical Preview came out in June or July... the Beta was either November or October 09 I think... -
Yeah I've had the beta for months now, but thanks for the helpful links anyway Tinder! There may be people who missed out.
-
Same Here.

Nothing that special that I've noticed. I actually like the design of 2007 better.
-
Well I know the beta's been around for months for people with Technet or MSDN but idk how long it's been open public.
But anyways, nice find nonetheless ^_^ -
You like it, or you're just used to it? Anyway, I opened it up once just to look around and went back to 2007. Not that I prefer it mind you, that's just the one that's hooked up to the printer and I've been to lazy to unpack my new printer and hook it up to my laptop. (Can you tell I don't print that much?)
At this rate it will be obsolete by the time I unpack it. It's a basic printer thought, which is why it's been in the box for the past 3 months. -

Its the same design, i just don't like the lighter colors as much as the dark blue.
Still, it's not bad, and i will most definitely use it until the beta ends, and will probably buy it. -
I personally enjoy the black color scheme. I don't know whether that was available in office 2007 though.

Yes, it was available on office 2007 as well. -
I'll stick to 2007 as I got it for free. No, not illegally.

I just recommended this my cousin to use this as he needed to use PowerPoint but didn't want to buy Office 07'.

I believe you can get office 2010 for free legally by trading your office 2007 or something like that. -
Actually I think that's if you purchase 2007. Kinda like the whole "buy Vista now get a free Windows 7 upgrade"
I wonder if they fixed that bug on Outlook with the mobile devices. -
I got mine from a volume license. I don't use it that much anyways.
-
just found out about it on youtube, it looks absolutely fantastic, cant wait to dl it.

The 64-bit version is great for Excel users. Now you can have plots of more than 32,000 data points without creating more than one groups of data points and plotting them one by one, which is a pain. All 2million data points with one click.
Edited: Looks like the 32-bit version can also do that. The advantage of 64-bit version seems simply that one can use Excel file bigger than 2GB. -
how do you enable that in Office 07?
-
via the office menu and options... hidden in there.

I have installed Office 2010 on my newly purchased Vaio TT. The version I downloaded is the one that lets you start using the program immediately, as it eventually downloads all the bits and pieces of Office 2010.
I've gotten most everything to work, but my current problem is when I want to send an email, and I click on the "To:" box, nothing shows up - I used to be able to choose here from my contacts.
My Contacts page does work properly.
The suggested advice from another web page was:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please could you guide me on how to re-establish my old Contacts folder as the source for addresses in the Message Editor window."
First make sure the Contact folder is enabled as an email address book. Right click the Contacts folder, choose Properties and then Outlook Address Book. The box to enable as an email address book should be checked. For most people, this simple step fixes the problem.
However, if the box is dimmed and unavailable, you'll need to go to Tools->Email Accounts and choose View or change existing directories or address book. If the Outlook Address Book is not listed, add it and then close and restart Outlook. If it is listed, then remove it, close, and then restart Outlook and repeat these steps to add it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyway, I can't do the first part, as the check box is dimmed (grayed out) and I can't remove the Outlook Address Book as described, prior to re-adding it, as the "delete" button is grayed out.
Any suggestions?
(I should add that I'd like to have run "scanpst.exe" just to be sure the pst file was in good shape, but apparently it no longer gets downloaded with the version of Office 2010 I selected, nor can I find where to download it from the Microsoft website.) -
Problem solved.
I created a new mail profile from Control Panel, then copied all my mail accounts to it. Everything works as intended. Apparently copying over the old mail files somehow corrupted something (transfer done with Windows Easy Transfer).
