If you are an Office 365 subscriber like me, you can now download the Final Version of Office 2016 for free via My Office Account Page:
==========================================================
When installing Office 2016, it caused my OneDrive to not sync any office file properly, be it word or excel, any office file would not sync and would have a red X button on it, if I check the upload center of Office, it says all those office files are pending awaiting authorization and that I would have to open each one and sign in to my Office Account. But I was already signed in. I researched a lot and finally found the culprit!
Right click on OneDrive the moment it stats syncing after adding signing in with your Microsoft Account and choosing your OneDrive folder then go to its settings and uncheck the following box. Very buggy new feature at the moment that causes a big mess.

Installing now myself. It's surprisingly early.. Thought it would be closer to 10AM.. No complaints here.
Get it over with before work.

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/for...016-to-have-the-same-bad-terms-as-windows-10/
"Yet another implosion: now MS Office 2016, will have the same nasty forced updates and terms as Windows 10. For it's on the list of ' services' under aka.ms/msa in the Win10 EULA (specifically, Office.com), and therefore technically has its own EULA terms (those), so if you use it, MSFT has the right to slurp all your private data and police it, in addition to making you not be able to suddenly use the thing because they totally changed the interface.. again.
But the CW article is oblivious to all that, here. It only notes the forced updates. One more thing to warn my clients against.
Parallel article in ZDnet, here."

There isn't much out there yet on this, as Office 2016 just came out, but they covered the 2 key points:
1) Windows 10 privacy invasive EULA covers Office 2016 - and other Windows products.
2) Windows 10 forced updates apply Office 2016 - and other Windows products - updates in the same forced fashion. -
I'll be hanging onto my tweaked Office 2010 until further notice - most likely until Kingdom Come - but to each their own...

Office 2016 was a must-upgrade from 2011 on Mac OS, but I'm not seeing a compelling reason to put this version my Windows machines.

Under Windows 8.x/7(?) the exposure might be much different.
Installing under Windows 10 is what paints the product with the same brush as Windows 10 itself.Last edited: Sep 22, 2015 -
not saying its a worthy upgrade, but thats exactly why i need to test it myself first and draw my own conclusions
if i dont like it ill just revert back to office 2013 and call it a day ^^

The closer web integration of the Windows version looks interesting, as does Sway but the it's going to have to be very financially appealing to warrant upgrading - at least until I likely need some service that only it can easily provide. -
On Tuesday, I got an email at work announcing a move from Office 2007 to the latest version of Office, Office 2013.
Then I got home and read that Office 2016 was now available. Guess they really wanted to be able to say the latest version was available, even if they wound up sending the email a few hours too late.
Still happy with 2010 at home, which I upgraded to for $10 a few years back via Microsoft's HUP program. I've used 2013 at a previous job, and as a non-Office-power-user, couldn't really tell any difference between 2013 and 2010 (though 2010 does have some nice refinements over 2007). Sway sounds mildly interesting, and the new chart types in Excel are nice. Otherwise, it seems similarly incremental to the 2010 to 2013 change. Might get a copy if I still could for $10, but since that's no longer an option for me will probably stay on 2010 unless a killer feature emerges. -
upgraded to 2016 from 2013, aside from a few theme / color changes, i felt right at home
sticking with it!

Well, every version of Office since 2010 has been bringing minor improvements and 2016 is no exception. Bug fixes, etc. 2013 was a big upgrade from 2010 for anyone who used Excel a lot. I saved a lot of hours making charts in 2013 compared to 2010. I will be upgrading.

I agree with @tijo about the improvements in previous versions but so far I have failed to notice any, having updated to the newest version.
I did notice one thing that got worse - Outlook used to display e-mail content on the side (if you wanted it to) but switch to displaying it at the bottom once you've rotated the device to vertical - it made sense and I really liked that MS was thoughtful for once. Well they apparently realized that and now the window that shows the content of the e-mail completely vanishes once you turn the device vertical - it's either list of e-mails or full screen e-mail content.
Also a weird thing happened immediately after I've updated - explorer.exe (not Office) started sending and receiving data at full speed of my connection (both ways). Process manager showed no network activity by explorer.exe (why?) but firewall did. IP resolved to MS servers, https connection. I have no idea what the hell that was and I don't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist but since I logged out from MS account in Office and never used OneDrive, there was no reason for that, especially not for such a substantial data transmission. I find it rather odd that it happened at that very time but not before.
Anyway - no improvements I can see, one thing got worse and suspicions grow.jaybee83, hmscott and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -

Right click on OneDrive the moment it stats syncing after adding signing in with your Microsoft Account and choosing your OneDrive folder then go to its settings and uncheck the following box. Very buggy new feature at the moment that causes a big mess.
Now please check if Office is still causing this high network bandwidth after you have finished syncing your OneDrive.
Note: If this doesn't work, try unlinking your OneDrive then link it again but this time ensure to uncheck that setting as soon as the syncing starts. -

So my 2010 Office Pro purchases for my laptops was a pretty good idea, huh? When that Office 360 said I had to pay monthly club cloud fees to print items from my pc, I blew my top! I would never do that in a million years.
Office 2010 Pro is the optimum in Office products and no ads eitherWhy would I pay monthly membership just to print items from my pc w/win 7 pro and a cannon laser printer beside me?
I am definitely done with Windows in 2020. Bill Gates may not live that long anyway. The man needs acupuncture treatments if he is ever going to survive, but don't tell him that! -
Guys currently Office 2010 Professional Plus is my main suite of choice at the moment for most of my computers and even though I have Office 2013 Professional Plus on one of my systems I haven't really got into the Metro style interface (it kinda clashes with the Windows 7 style imo).
My sister works for a company that is eligible under the Home Use Program so she can get Office 2016 Professional Plus from Microsoft at a heavily discounted rate (about £9.95). I'm just wondering if its worth upgrading from a feature point of view or should I just stick with 2010? From a price perspective I am tempted but given Microsoft's offerings of late I am a bit hesitant to go along... -
At that discount I would upgrade, but that is me.
