Is there a way to automatically delete old and cancelled events in Outlook 2007?

    I also have a question about outlook07.
In the folder side, Personal folder is first and my school mail below it.
I would like to switch or delete personal folder so my school mail can be default. Can someone help me with that?
If is not possible, can someone help me to push mails in my school mail box to the inbox of personal folder?
    Thank you

Does your school mail feed into a sub-folder located under Personal Folders? Typically, Personal Folders is THE top level mail folder. I don't think you can delete it, but (at least in MSO 2003) you can rename it!

What is the name and location of the folder(s) where your school mail lands?

    1. Personal folder position has no connection with default mail account.
    2. You could force rename the school pst over the outlook pst.

You need to back up this first!!!
    C:\Users\Y O U\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.pst

Then, in the same path...you have your school email pst. Copy it on desktop, rename to outlook.pst, close outlook, paste over the old outlook.pst.

    Whoa, whoa, whoa....guys. Slow down.

What kind of email account is your school account? Pop3? Imap? Exchange?

For pop3 or Imap, Go to FILE > DATA MANAGEMENT and choose your school account in the list, then click the SET AS DEFAULT button.

If it is an Exchange account, don't do anything but report back....I need to look it up.

Close Outlook and reopen it...your school should now be on the top.

Now, is there anything IN the Personal Folder from a different email account?

I'm not sure what you are emphasizing...and it seemed like you were going about it the hard way.

Also, if this is not a pop account, there is no PST file for him to edit, rename, or back up.

With a school account, he could very well have an exchange server

I got 1 POP 3 IMAP...all of them have individual PSTs. At work I have exchange...and it has a pst too. What are you on about?

Relax, actually, I wasn't certain about exchange and said so. I will take your word for it that a PST file exists...but see below--the behavior may be similar to the way Outlook handles IMAP

I was incorrect about IMAP account having a PST file--they apparantly do, but caution needs to be exercised when fiddling with them. Outlook caches all IMAP data in a local .pst file (didn't know that), but that PST cannot be used as your default information store and the "real" email remains on the server, not on your machine.

There are also a number of quirks with the way Outlook handles Imap accounts, for example Outlook provides no way to purge this cache, except by deleting the .pst file and starting over with a new one. Fiddling with an imap account when you are offline can result in strange behaviors sometimes as the two try to resync.

As previously noted. We need a better understanding of what he has before we start throwing suggestions around.
