In case anyone runs into this problem, I posted the solution:

    Posted from Wilders Security Forum
    Ferris23 Says:

Same here, what I did was I went into the C:\Windows\Software Distribution\Download folder and I found the folder where the exe for vredist (I can't remember its exact name now) was and I copied it to my desktop

I then rebooted and before running Windows updates, I run that setup file manually and it installed without any problems

Then I ran Windows update again and it said no more updates :)

Yeah I had problems with this particular "Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime" update on one of my computers as it just seems to freeze completely if you let Windows try to install it for you.

Like most Windows Updates I tend install it while I turn off the computer and think nothing of it but this time it just froze even though I left it to run overnight after 6 hours so I had to hard reset the machine and manually intervene.

    Windows 7x64 Ult Sp1

    12 Updates.... 86.5MB

lost the update log so using my download ms updates for listing...

    UPDATED: 2-15-15

For those that did their own offline download and install and still getting the WU that you need to still update IE11-Windows6.1-KB3021952 it's not really saying the right WU. Instead the real update you will need is KB3023607 depending if your using x86 or x64 version of Win7. Here's the link I finally found....

Once I did that update it never asked to WU KB3021952 again...

    Update 2-25-15
    Got a recent MS update for Windows6.1-KB3006137-x64 - 5.35MB

On one of my laptops I'm seeing EventIDs 3002 (from Microsoft Antimalware) and 7006 (Service Control Manager) pop up in the System event log every now and then. This started happening after installing the Windows Updates. When they come up, they occur right after booting, but I had only one occurrence on Tuesday, none on Wednesday, and a bunch more today, so it doesn't happen after every reboot.

[Shrug...] Probably harmless, but I wonder if anyone else is seeing these. My guess is this only happens on systems that have MSE installed. In addition, I only see this on one of my three machines around here, so not every system will have that problem.

Some patch caused a minor problem with one program I use, (a check writing program). It would not allow a dollar amount to be inserted so I tried to do a system restore by picking a date prior to this bunch of patches and it would NOT restore with a message saying unable to restore. So I did a restart and lost my Avast anti-virus program and still had problem with the check writing program. Did another restart and all is good. For some reason the quick restart did not work correctly and I had to do a cold boot.
