Note with Win 10, Patch Tuesdays are gone, Win 10 Home and Pro do windows update on the fly-when they come out-difference Pro users can defer the updates.
Are you ready for windows updates on the Fly ?

Does anybody remember the kind of excitement that was in the air, in anticipation of the next OS release from Microsoft? This was even true for Vista, but it has stopped after Windows 7. I have talked about this a long time ago, saying that a second massive failure, after the complete disaster that was Wind8.x, would do irreversible damage. Well, here we are...ajkula66 likes this. -

No, only online update tried. Need link for the off line update if you have it handy. For now I have hid the online updates that will not install. Thanks for the suggestion of offline update. One was a update for Office 2007 as I use 2007 MS Publisher for some jobs.

One of the updates is breaking/disabling the video drivers on both my Intel HD4600 and AMD 8790M. Nightmare!
I have a Dell e6540 with Windows 7 ProHTWingNut likes this. -

The GPUs seem to be disabled after 2-3 reboots or a certain period of time. I've just tried re-installing the Intel HD4600 drivers to try and restore functionality with the updates installed, but no luck. Both the GPU and drivers/control panel fail to initialize. It's as if the updates are disabled the GPU devises themselves. I'm at a loss!

1. make windows update to manual check only to inform of updates
2. then let it check and then click on the link in the box for Windows update the first line that will take you to the actual updates
3. click on each one of the update for MS and then to the left box click on the "More Information" link
4. this will open a separate link to the actual site in MS that is the download link for the update listed in the Windows Update.
5. each time you click on each update it opens a new tab for each so download one first and close the browser or tab and then go to the next one-I downloaded for both x86 and x64 versions so I have both versions of Windows 7 just in case.
6. after you get the Updates that you need and closed the browner double check to make sure the Updates match the Update in the Windows Update box....
**** Warning Don't close the WindowsUpdate til your finish*******
7. otherwise you will have to reopen Windows Update to verify if you got all the updates you needed
8. The same can be done for Microsoft Office 2013 as well...I am guessing it can also be used for Office 2010 also.
PS. I do know there are some Windows updates that you can not do with this method and I found a way but is more complicated. This was a Learn in Process to figure all this out and wasn't easy but now that I know it-it saves alot of time and headache
1. go to you Windows directory and look for the "WindowsUpdate" txt and in there your Windows only update will be listed there.
2. you have to know the kbxxxx filename and then search for it - it will be like kbxxxx.msu that is the file you need.
3. copy just the link between http: and .msu and then use a downloader or IE or whatever browser and download the exact update to a folder to keep it
4. when you download it-it will be example: windows6.1-kb2952664-v12-x64_e326a7b535c8f62b160b59ab59ffb071bacd891b.msu
5. once you get it you can save it and never worry about if I reboot where did all my offline downloads go.
6. This how I been doing all my updates since getting Windows 7 alot of work but at least I know they will install should I ever redo a complete Reinstall of Windows 7 again.
If there is any update I redo it and post it again in a REV...instructions.
