    Use media creation tool to get Win 10 installed , M$ may be killing support for the free Win 10 upgrade, Time is running out on free upgrade, after 7/29 or so M$ cash register starts cha ching.

    It took my Windows 8.1 35 minutes to check for updates. Found 13 critical, 3 optional...

    7 important updates selected, 73.3MB

    Might mention I use GWX, DisableWindows10 to prevent the NAGS and White Windows from Annoying me as well.

    No, I think I'll pass...

    Same happened on my desktop PC after clean install, it took WU on 7 about an hour to find updates...
    On laptop it still can't find any updates, even if I leave WU running for 5 or 6 hours...

    3 different laptops on 8.1, a dozen kb's, fast search & download, no w10 related plague. All well.

    Finally, after doing "mild reset" I was able to get updates.
    So, Windows 7 x64 HP, 270ish updates and 7 optional, around 2 gigs.
    Time to make some tea and go through all that stuff with a loop.
