Microsoft kills Sidebar, Gadgets over security concerns | bit-tech.net
Their solution is to completely remove the sidebar due to the security flaw but if you're only running the default gadgets that come with Windows 7 do you still need to worry?
I ask because I currently have the stock CPU/RAM monitor and the weather gadgets running and I would like to know if I should apply the security patch or just carry on without doing anything.

sorry mate but posted a week ago http://forum.notebookreview.com/windows-os-software/677128-windows-sidebar-warning.html
i removed them but others havnt. -
The problem would lie in installing side bar apps that are not approved. Any author could write an applet and it could then contain malicious code. This has always been the case. Thi means so long as you trust the apps you have and just do not install othre apps from untrusted authors you are fine. At least as fine as you have been ever since you started using them in Vista.
So as to not double post and go off topic see the other thread too. -
Appreciate the replies.
Well I guess that I won't be uninstalling sidebar then because I've never added any gadgets since the day I actually installed the OS.
