Is that the Modern/Metro tile version of Skype or the pre Win8 desktop version with a takbar icon

I use the desktop version for years, and no cpu problems.

Same the desktop version works fine and goes away when you want it to. Try not to use Metro apps, they are **** at best.

Please uninstall Skype and all other components that it sometimes installs like Skype Click to Call and whatnot.

Then download the Skype Lean and Clean unbloated installer. after installing it, go to its settings, privacy, and turn off Micro$haft Targeted ads then save

    Skype latest unbloated installer

Yeas, I see something similar, but not quite the same I think, is probably the Metro version, and as at about 15% all the freaking time.

ohhhh no, I uninstall all Metri apps using CCleaner when I install Windows.

lease uninstall the Metro Skype / Get Office / all Metro using CCleaner, then go to Tools, you will find them there

Also, if you don't like the new metro calculator and want the classic one, uninstall it from CCleaner and use the classic one here:

Skype is owned by Microsoft now, so MS try's to install it everywhere by default.

It's constantly reissued as an optional or recommended install via Windows Update on Windows 8.1 - I keep hiding it every time it shows up anew :)

Since you don't use it, I would uninstall it. A good idea for all features not used.

I wouldn't try to install another version until you uninstall the bundled versions, and according to that screen shot from the article linked below, there are two or three versions of Skype related software installed already.

Here is an article on how to uninstall bundled Skype, and I wouldn't install yet another version unless you are going to use it.

Keeping apps that have access to your Video/Audio inputs is not to be treated lightly. Don't install them unless you really need them, and only if they give you complete control over their operation.

Make sure you can limit their access to your Video/Audio to the times you need them only.

Disable Skypehost.exe (Windows Skype) on Windows 10

I don't use Video Skype myself, and have only installed used Skype at client sites that use it for IM text communications.

Skype tile version works just fine on my laptop (quadcore) but on my old laptop, which has a dualcore cpu and windows 7, the Skype desktop version took CPU usage like crazy. CPU ramp up to 80~100% after I'd opened Skype for a few minutes then usually stabilized at ~50%. Think I did try different versions as well but nothing changed. It's just like magic .
