Foolish me, I thought that I had disabled Automatic Update but no. So right in the middle of what I was doing my computer began an update and now I am locked in the dreaded 3 of 3 0% complete -> reboot loop. Lucky for me I had recently finished setting up XP on a separate partition, unlucky for me I had turned off System Restore. One of the things that I was in the middle of when this happened was partitioning a brand new 500g HD for backing up D'oh!!!

I've read about renaming the update files from a cmd prompt but either my DOS skills are too limited, actually that's a definitely, and or I am trying to rename the wrong file. Any of you folks out there able to help me out or point me in the right direction?

    TIA
