Everytime I run Microsoft Visio XP (2002), I always get a message "please wait while visio updates its directory cache". Usually, I only get this message once when running Visio for the very first time but now I get it everytime I run the program.

How do I get Visio to stop updating its directory cache everytime I run it? I have followed directions from Microsoft KB Article dealing with this issue http://support.microsoft.com/kb/897765 but I still have the same problem.

I have all the latest patches from Windows Update and Office/Visio Update. I have Windows XP SP3.

I did and reinstall fixes the problem only if I don't install Visio SP2 or later updates from Microsoft. As soon as I install Visio SP2, the problem pops-up. It seems that I can only avoid the problem by installing the original Visio from the CD without any patches.

As I said, I have Microsoft Visio XP (2002). This is not part of a suite. This is a stand alone software. No other software installed in the system.

I know what version of Visio you have. Funny things can happen when you have a different version of MS Office installed alongside a standalone program like Visio or Access.

If you have Visio CD installation files and the SP2 for Visio, try creating a new installation of Visio where you have integrated the SP2 files into it already.

How do I slipstream the original Visio CD with SP2?

Update: Problem Solved. Turned out that it is the Widcomm Bluetooth Software and Driver from Sony that caused the problem. Installing the older version of Bluetooth solved the problem.

But I still don't understand how come Bluetooth software cause Visio to break? I mean, my Visio doesn't even use Bluetooth or anything. BT didn't even exist at the time Visio XP was released.
