I'm trying to install a driver for my midi USB cable so I can connect my laptop to my MIDI keyboard. I have the proper driver but when I tried to install it, it failed at the beginning when it was trying to set up Microsoft Visual C++ 2005.
So I tried to reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable - I uninstalled it and tried to install it again but I'm getting an error:
Error 1935. An error occured during the installation of assembly.
'Microsoft.VC80.ATL,type="win32",version="8.0.50727.762",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="amd64
I've tried installing both the x86 and x64 versions but neither work.
I've looked everywhere for solutions online and tried a few ideas but nothing has worked.
Anyone have any advice? This is driving me crazy!!

Also update KB947821 for C++ 2008 has failed in Windows Update. Seems like these problems could be related.
Should I just uninstall all C++ programs and try to reinstall them? I'm afraid that none of the installers will work... -
I HAVE FOUND THE SOLUTION!!!!
After trying multiple methods and searching for days to find a solution, I finally found the fix. If anyone else had a similar issue to mine, I strongly recommend trying the fix below.
Solving setup errors by using the SubInACL tool to repair file and registry permissions - Aaron Stebner's WebLog - Site Home - MSDN Blogs -
