I would like to use a microsoft word template that has the same fields repeating throughout the document numerous times. This particular template is a legal document which requires my business name in several places on each of the 33 pages. I was wondering if there was a quick way to change similar fields across the entire document.

I tried using several possible options and looked all over the program for a way to do this but couldn't find anything. I looked through MS Word help using lots of different search terms as well as searched google for possible solutions but could not find any information on this.

If anyone knows how to do this, it will save me some time on this project and most likely come in handy in the future.

    Thank you

press CTRL + F, go to the replace tab, type in what is it throughout the paper, ex: [Ogranization name], then put in what you want it to be, click replace all & presto!

You can also achieve what you want using defined fields. This tutorial describes various methods from within Word that can be used to accomplish what you want to do.

Unfortunately the find/replace function doesn't work with fields and the tutorial didn't describe anything that worked in this particular file. I'm guessing the fields in this document aren't set up properly. Here is a screen shot of the field properties.

Not sure if this could be a way to do it, could you put the top part and bottom parts as headers and footers, then it would be on all pages????

    Just my 2 cents :)

I think that answer deserves some rep... I have actually never heard of autotext but it sounds like a solution that might help in this case. Tell me more if you know anything else.

While normally used to create a unique letter, you could use mail merge for this and have the changeable data in a spreadsheet. You can repeat a single merge field in multiple locations.

What I don't get is since this is your company in the legal document, is that likely to change?

I suppose it's possible that the OP wants to create a form document that can be sold to other businesses for their own use, or else provides basic business support services to other small businesses and wants to have templates for the various documents s/he might need for a bunch of different businesses.
