    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,196131,00.html

    The gist:

    For the Minimum:
    800 MHZ processor
    512 MB RAM
    DirectX 9 graphics processor

    For Aero:
    1 GB RAM
Insiders say even 2 GB RAM
    1 GHZ processor
    Dedicated Graphics of 128 MB
At least 40 GB HD or 15 GB free HD space

Integrated graphics users will need at least 1 GB RAM
Older chips than ATI Technologies' Radeon Xpress 200 and Intel's GMA 945 will not meet the minimum
    ________________________________________________________
I guess it is time to upgrade our RAM, eh? Maybe I will wait until SP2 is released so I don't have to be a Beta Tester. I remember my first Windows 1.0 shell, 256 KILOBYTES OF RAM, and 2 floppy drives. I have had Windows 1.0, 3.0, 95, 98 SE, ME, 2000, and XP.

Maybe this version of Windows may finally be as stable as the Mac OS with 2 GB RAM and 256 MB VIDEO RAM.

We've come a long way, Baby!

Here's the original, which was misquoted by Fox.

    Microsoft says:
The word "dedicated" is not there. ;)

    Not even here.

What I am trying to point out is that it seems Aero will not need a dedicated graphics card, which confirms the rumors that it runs on Intel GMA 950.

Well according to their software my current machine can run the ultimate edition but needs a graphics upgrade (64mb but need 128 or more)

of course this does not mean it will perform well on such hardware.

I'll just use this as an excuse to buy a new machine :)

so gma 950 will work? I've read in other (older) threads that it will.

Excellent! I don't have a dedicated 128 MB card, either. I will wait and see what happens with everyone else when it does come out.

I am looking forward to the public beta. I received a TechNet Flash yesterday which indicated that the beta will be out soon, I guess in 1-2 months. Then we'll know for sure.
