Is anyone else having issues with the latest nightly build of Minefield (3.6a1), It has been rock solid but last nights build is crashing constantly. Its not too big a deal, i am back to using the stable firefox or chrome, but miss the speed of minefield.
Just curious if anyone else is having the issues.

You miss the speed of Minefield when you have Chrome? Chrome is much faster imo.

That is the price of using a beta. (many) Hits and (few) misses here and there. The devs are constantly working in implementing new stuffs, sometimes it just brokes :D

Glad to see you have a backup plan whilst waiting.

    cheers ...

No issues in the last few months. Builds are rarely (if ever) just completely broken. (Why would the devs publish a broken build?) They do often times have bugs in them, though, but what do you expect from a "live" copy of an in-development software? All you can do is wait it out.

Actually, if you want, you can report the bugs if they haven't been already.

Back up and running with tonight's build. Everything is running fine again with Minefield.
I know that issues are to be expected with in development software but I had gotten kinda spoiled by Minefield just working and was curious if anyone else was having any issues.

Chrome is faster than firefox 3.0, about the same as the 3.1 betas, and not as fast as minefield on my system. I am running the beta update channel for Chrome also. If google would fix the page scrolling I would be tempted to use it more often. The scrolling speed when using a laptop touchpad is too fast.
I use Chrome for accessing my schools online class system (web ct vista) since it causes any firefox beta or alpha to crash when you close the browser.

3.1(3.5) betas are not as fast as chrome. tracemonkey doesn't seem to compare with webkit, imo. i used to use nightly builds of FF but not anymore. wasn't that much faster, and should be as fast as the beta builds anyways..

Anyone want a fast browser, use Safari. It is currently the fastest, comparing to FF, IE8 and Chrome.

Agree that for Minefield users, they are "spoiled", as I am. And with the stability, quickness and extensions, one tends to forget about other "faster" browsers.

    cheers ...

Safari 4 beta? Tried it, didn't seem that fast at all, especially the way they backed it up...when it first got released. Not only does it not seem fast for me, it uses a RIDICULOUS amount of resources. Granted it is in beta form, very buggy and not that fast. It's faster than say IE, but from when I tried it out, didn't even seem faster than FF 3.08...maybe just a tad bit faster than 3.08.

I have noticed a few more crashes with the latest Minefield nightlies, but have been too occupied to pay much attention these days. Still, when I say "few", I'm talking like twice in the past week, as opposed to like once in the 3 months before that....

    Try this: http://webkit.org/

Chrome is faster than Firefox how? I don't see it, even using 3.0.8

Chrome and Minefield are nearly on par with each other. They're so close that fighting over which one is faster is pointless. Plus, it's going to vary depending on the page. Also, I keep seeing people saying "Chrome is faster than Minefield in my opinion." Those last three words crack me up. Speed is not subjective. It's either faster or it's not. Your opinion is irrelevant.

I said in my opinion because I haven't ran benchmarks to test the actual speed. When I use the two browsers I feel that Chrome is faster and snappier, hence me saying Minefield isn't as fast, therefore making it an opinion rather than a statement. Other people can feel differently. Can we all agree than Chrome starts up faster than any other browser out there, including Minefield?

I can certainly agree with that. Both the current Firefox and Minefield have horrible startup times. They really need to improve on that. (To be fair, however, a lot of the load time can be attributed to extensions loading.)

    Agreed.
If I could change the scrolling speed on chrome id be very tempted to switch.

Chrome still lacks compatibility with some websites though, or I'd be willing to use it more often. As it is, it tends to be my go-to browser when I use google services w/ gears and for nothing else. That and the lack of add-ons of course, but that's a given.

Chrome is also attractive just because it's so new. I bet firefox would get a lot more casual users if it suddenly did an interface refresh and revitalized a marketing campaign or something.

I am using Chrome 2 beta and the nightly of Minefield. Minefield is pretty fast and loads up fairly quickly. Chrome is okay. Both are pretty fast but Minefield is more full-featured.
