well, as you happen to not understand what an IDEA is, you won't understand it.

an idea is just a simple sketch-up. like some pencil-sketch on a paper. why should he add all information like page-name and such when a simple icon can be set up much more quick, and SHOWS THE IDEA JUST AS WELL.

the final implementation, if even implemented, might well have icons + texts below. or preview-pictures + texts. or icons + preview pictures + texts. or just text. or WHAT EVER.

it's an IDEA. a collection of quickly accessible most used pages. how that collection exactly looks, that will then be explored and tested and discussed by the development team comunity.

All it is is a redesign of the start page for when you open up FF. Click a new tab and the search bar will be at the top like it always is.

Mozilla swats Firefox zero-day bug a week early

Cut costs using smarter software development - Imtech ICT tell all

Mozilla has plugged a critical unpatched cross-platform vulnerability in Firefox a week ahead of its previously announced schedule.

Firefox 3.6.2 fixes a flaw first discovered by security researcher Evgeny Legerov last month, and confirmed by Mozilla last week.

The zero-day vulnerability - now identified as an integer overflow flaw involving the WOFF font decoder used by the latest version of Firefox - created a means for hackers to distribute malware via drive by download attacks from maliciously constructed sites, providing vulnerable marks were using Firefox version 3.6. Early versions of the open source browser do not use the vulnerable WOFF decoder technology, and are therefore immune from the bug.

Exploit code was available though not in the "weaponised" form beloved by script kiddies - instead the exploit was available as an add-on to the Immunity Canvas automated exploitation system.

Mozilla originally promised an update on 30 March in an advisory last Thursday, offering a beta version of Firefox 3.6.2 as an alternative for those disinclined to wait it out. That wasn't good enough for the German government's BürgerCERT security response team, which advised users on Monday to avoid Firefox 3.6 until a fix was available.

Possibly prompted by this slap in the chops, Mozilla released a full version of the latest version of the browser on Monday night. An absence of problems related to the beta version of 3.6.2 in the four days since its release cleared the passage for the release of the update to the open source browser.

Let's keep this thread free of any browser discussion. Post if you find any new information/developments with upcoming browser releases or if there are any incremental dev releases that are out, but refrain from making comments on the browsers, especially if they're "Browser X is better than browser Y." It clutters up the thread and takes away from its purpose. Thanks.

Trying out Chrome right now latest version. Loving it so far, but I have a minor issue. For some reason I cant log into my Dlink router login. Every time I type in my password its will not taking it. All it does is just reload the page and I am back at the login screen. I am able to login using IE 8 and FF. I even try copy and paste and its still not taking it. Anyone know why?

Edit: found this http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Chrome/thread?tid=29fa73d18c308332&hl=en looks like other dlink 655 users are having the same issue, but no solution. Bah

Because the idea of this thread turning into a software update thread has been tossed around, and instead of waiting for mods to change it, I will. So any new minor software updates you find, post them in this thread. Major updates can get their own thread.

I agree about the new Chrome, I dropped an earlier version because it just seemed nothing special but the latest incarnation seems quicker[no big thing we are talking seconds] and much more stable than the others. I noticed this especially with videos. Both Opera and FF have disappointed me with instability issues. Main complaint is no Yahoo toolbar.

I have deleted some posts in this thread as they were not browser updates. If the mod team decides to make this both a browser and software update thread, then we will undelete the posts.
