I am getting an error on my reliability history that states my Wlanext.exe file is missing. Or shall I say I discovered that the file is missing. I have 2 computers that have the exact same W7 Ult install. On one I have this file in my C/windows/system32/wlanext, on this computer it does not exist. My wireless seems to be working fine right now, but I don't like the fact I am generating so many problem reports. I have gotten 12 of them since this morning.

Is this a situation where I would use my install disc to have it do a repair? If so, can someone please step me thru this process as I have not had to do it before. Or is this a sfc/scanow process?

Sorry, for the questions, but I actually have not had too many problems with any of my W7 OS's yet. Knock on wood!!!

Dave, you and I are in it brother!

I read that it is not a good idea to add Windows files because of the Registry and all that. Opinion?

do it, see if it helps, if not, remove it. i'm a try before think guy in such cases. if the registry needs to be updated to recognise the file, it will simply not notice it's there. no harm done. but maybe it works.

I wonder if a system file check would fix it?
You would need to run it as administrator. You could give it a try:
    1.Click the start orb
    2.Type "cmd"
3.It should be listed in the search, right click it and "run as admin"
    4.Type sfc /scannow

It may request your install DVD and may take about 15-30min to run. Good luck!

I tried that already, it didn't find any problems.
