I recently started using Google Chrome (GC) as my primary browser after I discovered it was generally much faster and less balky than Internet Explorer (IE). However, I noticed recently I cannot play many videos on YouTube and news sites such as Salon and CNN. When I attempt to play them, I receive the message "Missing Plug-in". I can play the same videos on IE, but if possible, I'd prefer to continue use GC if possible. I suspect I need a patch or updated plug-in, but I do not know how to find them. I looked on the help section of GC, but it was not helpful; it stated that for the "Missing Plug-in" messages, the user should click on the message to initiate download of the needed plug-in; I tried this for two videos on two sites (YouTube and Salon), but the message was not "clickable". I also checked my GC version and it's the latest one. I automatically install all Windows Vista updates. I'd be appreciative for suggestions or advice to find and download the needed patch(es) or plug-ins to access website videos.
Thanks for reading and any information.

Thanks for the responses to date, I'll check the shock flash player situation.
Indrek-Chrome did not let me know which plug-in was missing. I agree that it is odd, I also assumed all browsers would let me know what plug-ins are missing.
Thanks,

Thanks for the responses. Both of you were correct, the Google Chrome (GC) browser was missing the shock wave player. I'm still puzzled as to why GC did not immediately indicate which plug-in was missing or automatically download the shock wave player when I clicked on the "Plug-in Missing" icon, despite the GC help section stating that this protocol would be activated when I did so. In any case, all is well for now--I rebooted the PC and apparently this automatically restored the shock wave player; all videos on YouTube, Salon, and other news sites play now.
Thanks,
"Missing Plug-in"
