My hard drive seems to be missing a sizable portion. It is 160GB, and in My Computer, it says that there is 143GB. I realize this is partitioned off for the OS (XP). This is not the problem.
I'm trying to clear some space on the hard drive, and so I search through folders for where all the space is taken up. I had trouble finding all that space, so I ran WinDirStat, which logs all the space taken up by whatever it is. It found that only ~70GB were taken up on my C drive, whereas Windows claims ~140GB is taken up. What could be the problem?
I figured out the problem, which was the Lenovo R&R backup files.

Try to check it under command prompt or Computer Management
Command Prompt:
1. type diskpart
2. list volume
Computer Management:
1. Control Panel
2. Administrative Tools
3. Computer Management
4. Disk Management
Not sure if computer management is possible in Win XP, but I'll just toss it out there in case. Its easier to use than command prompt in my opinion. -
Also, keep in mind that what the hard drive company marketing people mean when they say "160GB" is not what actual computer people mean by that same term. As described in this Wikipedia article, to convert the marketing definition of "gigabyte" into the technical definition of "gigabyte", multiply the marketing size by 0.931322574615478515625 - thus, 160GB according to the marketing people is really more like 149.01GB, which is what .Windows would report as the true size of the drive.
