I can't wait until they roll this out as part of a service pack...

Ars Technica has all the annoying details. Your information just got a lot less yours if you run Microsoft software :)

Fortunately modern Linux flavors pretty much never require a kernel compile. If it does, you're doing something wrong, or doing something highly geeky.

I can not imagine this being a defualt part of Windows. They would be signing their death warrant.

Maybe it will come with a free versions of Office or something. Where you have to see ads whenever you do anything. But can you imagine paying $400 for a OS then seeing Ads plastered all over, and your personal date harvested and supplied to advertisers? Apple and Linux would clean up.

I am Highly geeky. Back when I was Electrical engineering I was surrounded by *nix users and I tried out Ubuntu. Being the geek I am I figured I'd look in to a more refined and customized Kernal for my machine. My first attempted worked(kinda). As school ended I gave up and went back to XP.

Anyway how broken is the patent system that MS can patent this? Don't most if not all spyware operate on this principle? Hell Gmail does this.

Windows just might, sooner or later be an OS that I will never use while connected Online.

Once I get a Mac w/leapord OSX and Load it with Ubuntu too, then I might just use windows for certain offline things.

Ummm, if that ever becomes required for an MS OS I'm definitely switching to OS X or Linux...

Seriously. So will all IT departments I'm sure, as they do not want a HDD crawler going through all their files.

Programs with ads? I'm sorry...I do not support programs that you pay for that still have advertising.
