I just installed Mozilla Aurora 7.0 a2.So far I can't tell any differences, performance or security wise, than any Mozilla FireFox 5 release. The only differences I see is the lack of support for my pluggins and addons.Anyone else trying this browser? What's your thoughts and opinions. What addons or pluggins really work and make it useful?

FIRSTLY, firefox is not an operating system. :p

Firefox 5 - 8 are performance/HTML5-compatibility updates. Don't expect any forward-facing changes...things will just 'work better'. Personally, I am a heavy user and these improvements will have the greatest visibility to like-people.

Aurora isn't meant for non-techies. Albeit, it can also be fairly painful for techies that aren't used to how firefox works.

    first thing is first:
    1) get addon-compatibility reporter(or something rather). it will let you use your addons.
    2) click yes to send anonymous reports back to firefox. I don't think you technically have to do this, but it is a nice thing to do and its kinda expected for you to provide feedback of some sort.

Some known bugs(that affect me personally):
    1) session manager is broken (get 0.7.6pre20110708 to fix it)
    2) site launcher is broken
    3) panorama groups are slightly buggy(the tab previews are often wrong)

here is a list of some changes in each release, may or may not be useful for you: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Features/Release_Tracking

ps, sorry i can't tell you what the differences between aurora 7 and firefox 5 are....but i haven't used release builds since aurora 5 came out(firefox 4.0.1 was around).

Thanks.I tried what you suggested and bingo.I'm new to tampering with browsers, but since I use them 12 to 16 hours a day,I figured I might as well get to know one intimately.

Aurora replaced 6b,but I was still having addon and pluggin issues. No issues with FF 5.Thanks to Generic User,I have my stuff up and running again. The only bug I have is when I click on a link, to go to a new tab,it goes to a new window instead. This is just a minor issue to me.Still looking and reading through the posts on Mozilla's site.I'll get this fingered out.

Thanks for the help you all.

if you do that, just remember to setup a new profile. if you disable addons that ACTUALLY don't work in aurora, it'll deactivate them on ff5 as well(obviosuly cause of shared profiles).

use tab mix plus 0.3.8pre.110303a - thats the aurora compatible version.

this is one of the 'killer' extensions for firefox and there are ALOT of options. be prepared to spend an hour tweaking everything to perfection. It's a PITA, but browsing is a joy once EVERYTHING works the way you want it to(the best interface is ALWAYS the one you want).
