    Im currently running vista 64-bit and I was wondering, what is the best mpeg encoder for vista? what do you guys recommend? price is not an issue for me. Any help would be appreciated.

    ffmpeg and mencoder are both excellent and open source, but they run from the command line. Media Coder is an open source wrapper around them, and is very easy to use (as easy as encoding video can be). If you describe more of what you're trying to do, maybe I can give you more specifics. videohelp.com is another resource you'll want to look at.
