Okay, I'm a newb in the worst way on this forum, but here's what I'm trying to figure out:

I have an HPdv6000 and I am looking to do some multi track recording for some acoustic music, and then moving into rock music once the band is all working and such... I need a super cheap recording program and cheap and minimal equipment to go with it, and a lot of advice. I'll try to check on here, but e-mails to [email protected] would be greatly appreciated. Reply with "MTR advice" as the subject. thanks!

Hey thanks walidism. I checked that out and did some other research on the Firebox, and, although it looks to reach over the budget I had in mind, its not terrible for what I was looking for. I'm going to look into seeing what kind of deals I can find on it, but I may end up getting it.

What is your opinion on Cubase? Would I be better suited to use that or do you suggest something else? I had heard a lot of good things about Garage Band but from what I read up, Garage Band is only for Macs... Is this accurate? Thanks...

I have a sort of similar question. I'm trying to hook my Line6 amp up to my computer via line-in (my amp has headphone out), but there is a whole lot of background noise unless I switch to my humbucker pickup. Is there a way to get around this? Also, is there a cheap way to give myself two mics? I have one that I can plug into the mic port, but I want to get another one besides the built-in array because I want to position th etwo mics next to eachother.
