    Hello NBR members,

I'm currently using a Windows 7 desktop and a MacBook Pro running Mac OS X. Presently, I use Windows Live Mesh (formerly called Live Sync) to synchronize my personal files (about ~20GB of pictures, documents) over a Hotmail account, but I'd like to complicate things by installing Ubuntu on the desktop and finding a way to sync between all these platforms. The problem is that Live Mesh is for Windows/Mac only. You should also know that the desktop and laptop do connect with each other over a local network almost daily. I also don't mind paying for a commercial solution as long as its good quality, so here are my core requirements:

    - multiplatform (Win/Mac/Linux), 64-bit version for Windows 7
    - synchronization via internet account AND/OR local network
    - the program should run in the background and be unintrusive
    - the data being synced can be substantial; I have 17GB of photos and ~3GB of documents. However I am willing to compromise by not having the photos synced if there are bandwidth limitations.

I'm open to suggestions! Keep 'em coming!

    Bog

Thanks ATG, I will consider PowerFolder as a potential solution.

rsync is an option. It's more of a *nix command-line utility, which should be ok for OS X too. For Windows, you can run it under cygwin, or you can try one of the Windows ports (which I haven't tried myself).

I use this: Super Flexible File Synchronizer

It works for me. The linux version is free. I haven't used the linux version so I can't comment on it's usability.

This software has great tech support.
