I currently have ThinkPad T500. I connect it to my external monitor. I use the external monitor as the desktop, and have it extend the screen to the screen of my laptop.
I would like to know if it is possible to have 2 different desktops on each screen. Just like on my external monitor, I would also like to have a taskbar on the screen for my laptop, so it will be easier for me to differentiate between as to which programs are on which screen.

I am aware there is Vista/XP Virtual Desktop Manager , but not sure how to the desktop be on my other screen.

I don't get it...do you want to dual screen or have 2 OS's. 2 pc's you want Virtual Machine. And for the taskbar on both screens you want ultramon.

Thanks. I have found ultramon to be useful.
Now I need to figure out if I can also have a start button on the second display, as well as the desktop icons.

Also, when I open an application, it opens in the desktop where I launched it from.
