I feel like this is a dumb question, but I have never actually installed an OS before because all the computers I bought already had it. I will be getting Windows 7 along with my new computer soon. How many times can I reuse the OS disc? I was thinking of using it on my older laptop as well for a fresh start before I give it to someone to use. Can I use it on more than 1 machine?

IIRC, most Windows licenses only allow for one computer at a time. You could install it on one machine, then uninstall it, and then reinstall on a different machine; however, the same activation code will not work for two machines at once.

If you are a college student or know one, you could try getting a second license for free (or a reduced price) via MSDNAA. Or, if your workplace has it, you could try getting a copy through MSDN.

Your laptop's going to have an OEM license. First off, one license means only one computer. Second off, an OEM license cannot be used (legally) on any other PC besides the one it was purchased for.
