I am looking for a music program that can take music files that are named "track 1", "track 2" and so on with no tag data and automatically scan a folder for and find the song name and enter the tag data.

I hope there is such a program. I have a ton of music files I know I want to keep but don't want to have to do this manually one song at a time. All of these songs were ripped from CD's and no other information is available, just "Track 1" and so on. I don't care if it can find album art or other stuff just mainly the song title and artist. I know there are programs that can find the song name by listening to some of it so this should be possible.

I know it would have been easier to have that information when the music was ripped but since I didn't do it and wasn't around I had no control. It is what it is.

    Thanks in advance

WinAmp has a feature called 'Auto-Tag' that works pretty good. It 'listens' to the song then compares it to a huge data-base. Pretty quick, too. About 10 or 15 seconds per song.

I have been using Mp3Tag for ages. It does a wonderful job.

freedb plugins and MusicBrainz comes to mind. They do require an internet connection as the databases are online.

For future archiving, take a look at EAC and Audiograbber.
