I was wondering what are the best and safest programs out there for downloading music and movies. I was thinking of downloading Limewire or Ares. What programs does everyone else use? I also wanted to know if there is a program out there that will scan any music or video file before you download it to your computer to ensure it is safe and virus-free? Sorry for the noob questions. Any response is greatly appreciated.

I haven't used any P2P besides uTorrent in years. A anti-virus will do your scanning.

P2P discussion is against the rules. I'd suggest either napster or zune - both let you get unlimited downloads for a flat fee.

Myself, I hate the Idea of paying for something without having something to hold and touch - HMV (most cd's are 2 for €15 + 10% student discount) or second hand shops. And I don't steal music - I've 10gig of 100% legal cd's on my laptop.

Discussion of piracy is against the forum rules so this thread is closed. I suggest that you find a legal service(you will likely have to pay for it)...that way you will have little worries about nasty files attached to your downloads.

See here if you are interested in legally downloading music/videos for a fee:
