I have been looking at iTunes as my online music store of choice b/c they seem to have the most flexable DRM on there music. But my problem is that i have the iRiver H10 mp3 player which doesn't play the AAC music format that itunes sells its music in. So what i am wondering is, is there a program that can convert the protected AAC files to mp3 or wma format that is free. Please don't go into suggesting other music stores b/c itunes sucks in your opinion. I don't want this to become a competition thread.

Can't you do it right in iTunes?

You could burn them to CD then rip them to MP3 with CDex or some such. That is the only officially supported method. Personally, I use Total Recorder to 're-record' them into MP3.

I am pretty sure ITunes 5 can do this. Right clicking a wma song brings up a "Convert to MP3" dialog. Can't see why it would be any different for a AAC file? The whole protection thing might screw it up though... Since ITunes can't handle protected content in WMA format... AAC might be different though.

yes..iTunes can do it..u just have to change the settings for it to make them convert to .mp3...because iTunes won't convert it to .wma files

Best music conversion/CD ripping software I've ever used.
The best part of all is the price. FREE.

Agree! dbpoweramp is a great tool I use it for ripping my cd's but I don't think it will convert the files from itunes unless they are stripped of the DRM.

I was browsing through this site and it tells of ways to get them converted. so thats nice to know, the only thing is it is still going to be time consuming.
