I basically have a ton of CD' (about 450) and for whatever reason havent put any of them on my computer. I need software that will help me organize them once in my computer, also some CD burning software. I currently have some software on my dektop. sp,e ,usicmatch crap that camme wiht the dam thing, but am unsure if i want o use it.I just want to have my whole collections on a hard drive and burn CD's or put some songs on friends music players. I dont have an MP3 player or I-pod yet(Have no use for it) but would like it to be compatable. Im also not big into buying music on line, but it appears to be inneveitable so it should be compatable to music buying sites. Any suggestions would be awsome.

You can still use iTunes without an iPod. I'd suggest that. Make sure you rip to mp3 and not AAC. Otherwise, you manually have to organize it, rip it with something like EAC and encode with LAME (google helps there).

I'd personally say EAC using LAME and then organize in whatever way you choose, I always do a folder for each artist, and then subfolders for each album, but it really depends on your music collection as to how applicable that would be (if you have a lot of mixed artists then it doesn't work so well).

CDex is also a good ripper. Easy to set up for consistent file naming, does some error correction and is also free. WinAmp pro at $15 is also an option as WinAmp is one of the best players and the library can make sense of almost any folder structure without having to move stuff around. I use both myself.
