I have an acer aspire 7741 running on windows 7 home

Ive worked with computers all my life but my current laptop is doing things i cant explain.

When i save files they simply do not appear where they are supposed to appear!

Sometimes they do. I saved a picture to a certain location. THen I opened it normally and rotated it. Then I closed it and the file was gone! Over and over again.

This windows just saves files in places where i cant find them, when im actually telling it to save it somewhere else!

    anyone else found this too??

So does my neighbor's dog  Totally agree with Gracy, If you have a system image or backup - restore would be quickest. If you do not want to clean install right away,
and you have malwarebytes - update definitions. Also update your AV software and run both in safe mode.

McAfee could be your problem. An easy way to check it is to uninstall it completely. You will need there uninstaller to do this. A regular uninstall will leave much of it still there. If this solves the problem then use some other Antivirus software. There is plenty of it around paid or free which will protect your computer without causing it to have problems. I have used free versions for 15 years.

Well hell. The August 23rd McAfee update has come and gone and it did nothing for me so I finally resorted to this nonsense here: Files missing on Windows 7 computers

    That fixed it. YAY!

The instructions don't make clear that you need to turn OFF Access Protect (see steps 4-6) before running this stuff, then turn it back ON afterwards. Good luck. :)
