My Dell Inspiron 5100 laptop died after i used spybot to clean up the HD. That program deleted something needed to start the cpu, and i cannot remember the file name since it happened awile ago. everytime i turn it on, i loads to the blue screen that says "process1_int._failed". i DL'd BartPe to run the computer, but cannot do much. i was wondering how can i transfer all of my data of this hd onto another laptop so that i can reload windows. i have firewire and usb cables, but do not know how to use them to transer stuff with BartPe. Thanks in advance for anyone able to help me.

All you need is a external HD, stick the old HD in there, connected to new laptop and start scavenging away :)

coriolis is talking about something like this.

spend 10 to 20 bux, get the case, take your old HD out, put it in the case, plug into another computer and it will show up as an external drive. grab what you need. pop it back in to the notebook and reinstall windows.

i wonder if it isn't fixable without such drastic measures? how far before you get the blue screen? have you tried booting in safe mode? it sounds odd that spybot would render your computer unusuable.

you could also try a linux Live CD such as slax...You can use the cd and copy files from your drive to somewhere on a network, or you could even zip all your data (i dont know how much you have) and try and upload it to a service like www.megaupload.com or www.rapidshare.de and then download it when you have your system back up and running!

They mean that you should get an external HD enclosure and take out the HD from your lappy.

I would try reparing windows. If you have the XP disk, you can do this and it won't erase your HDD, but it will fill the registry/file problems.
