i've got a "USB 2.0 to IDE Adapter" which is a USB device allows me to connect my external 100 G.B (hitachi) Hard Disk to my Laptop,,

the problem is when i want to safely remove the Hard disk and i choose to Remove it Safely it never do, so i unplug the USB wire to disconnect it.

so it happened to me this problem and i can't access my drive,,

i dont know if it a folder system problem or a virus cuz one of my friends told me that though, hope you help me out soon cuz im really need to get information data from the inaccessible partition

so one of them told me to try chkdsk x: /f, i tried it & it worked for all the partitions and it worked completely. later that day looks like my brother unplugged it not safely .. now it is not accessaible and not responding to chkdsk (chkdsk opens and instantly closes)
please help me what to do ?? ..in the disk management, i can see all the partitions from the USB HD.. so what can i do ??

Try using Unlocker.Just google it and see which process is locking the drive. It might be a process than a virus.

Rambo...I don't see how unlocker can help in this situation. If I understand the OP correctly, he is not talking about removing/deleting a file or folder. He's talking about a removing a physical HDD here.

To the OP, I really don't know what to tell u to get the drive working again and get your data back...So you don't see the drive under 'My Computer' at all? Did u try using a different USB port? if u do manage to get it working again right click on the disk and select properties...go to the 'Hardware' tab, select the HDD and choose properties; then click 'Policies'. There you can put in the check to allow you to remove the HDD w/ out the need to safely remove.
