My computer suddenly started taking forever to boot to the windows splash screen.

Between the HP splash screen and windows 7 splash screen, there is a black screen with a cursor on it. It used to be that the cursor would flash for a few seconds and then it would go right into the windows 7 splash. Now, when it gets to that black screen, the cursor doesn't blink and the computer hangs there for about 1 min 30 sec before hitting the splash screen. This seemed to happen just overnight. Everything else on the computer seems to be fine, although I sometimes have issues bringing my computer out of sleep. I've run virus scans with avira, but I haven't found anything. Any ideas what's wrong?
