Ever since I've been using my new laptop, Sony Vaio Z, my favorites keep being alphabetized.
I organize both direct links and folders in a manner that is convenient for me according to frequency of use.
Ever since I started with my Vaio z which is my first laptop with win 7, they keep getting alphabetized.
I use Xmarks to keep my favorites coordinated among my various laptops (now 3). Before, with my two older ones with XP and IE8, Xmarks coordinated them perfectly. I reorganized the order on one and then go on the other -- Xmarks matches up what I had on the first one -- deletes the link I've deleted, adds the links I added and reorders the links and folders according the change on the previous laptop.
Now on the Sony Vaio Z with Win 7, even if Xmarks first loads my favorites on to it according to my organization, over the period of time that I am using the laptop, the IE8 favorites get reordered alphabetically. If I reorganize them back to the order I want, still over time they get reordered back alphabetically.
And finally when I go to my XP laptops, Xmarks follows the latest ordering -- i.e., what was on my Sony and re-orders the ones on my XP laptops alphabetically.
Is there some box I can uncheck to stop this from happening.
Does anyone have any ideas about this.
It is really annoying![]()

Not really a fix but a very efficient workaround. -
I don't think you can. Same thing with the Start menu shortcuts, since Windows 95 it used to put folders at the top and programs below it, now it's reversed and there's nothing you can do about it, well except use the old style start menu but you lose functionality (i.e. search field).
My favorites on IE8 keep getting alphabetized since Win 7
