Now, sir, please tell us the configuration of the system you're facing this problem on, and which OS you're using. :)

First of all - don't push - no one owes you anything - so be friendly and people will be friendly to you.

Next: You may know that you can "crash" or "hard shut down" a computer by keeping the power button pressed - no need to remove either the AC supply or the battery.

Then: How did this issue appear? You said your laptop worked then this suddenly happened. - What has changed/was changed?

Are there any external devices connected to the laptop or disconnected from the laptop?

I had a similar issue during Vista SP1 - whne I removed my USB hubs with several devices attached the OS wouldn't register this and I couldn't shut down my laptop - solution: use "safely remove hardware" or shut down with externals

Edit: Just to add. This problem has resolved itself with SP2 - it didn't exist pre SP1 either I'm not sure when exactly though it oiginally started.

What OS do you use? I assume Vista - SP1, 2?

Are your drivers up to date?

The most likely cause for the shutdown problem is a device not responding to a shutdown command from the OS - why and which device may be in your error logs, so check these please.

    Thank you.

    1.) Hardware problems.
    2.) Software problems.

    Which 1 do you think?

How to know is hardware problems?
Check your device manager to know your computer hardware status.
If you see a lot of errors, mean it maybe hardware problems.

How to know is software problems?
Reformat roguely or reformat wrongly won't help you. Make sure you format it correctly.

I have this problem with my Acer Aspire 6920G.
I solve it easily with a CLEAN FORMAT.
I do have some manual repair methods. Yet, I am too lazy to fix it using that way.

If you want an answer, either pay for it in cash, or pay for it in kindness, and since you're not paying cash here ...
