Sorry for the double post, i already posted this in the Sony forum ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=300112) , but i think i might get more replies here.

I usually put my laptop into hibernation instead of shutting it down. Today when I was in school at the end of a class, I put my laptop to hibernation, and then when I got to my next class my computer was turned on by itself in the bag!! then when I put it to hibernation at the end of that class, and went to my next class, my laptop turned itself on in the bag, again!! my laptop has never done this before, today was the first time. I came home from school, got my laptop out, it was on again! I put it in hibernation, and i just sat there and wait, after a few minutes it turned itself on!!

Do you guys know what could the problem be? this never happened before.. Its quite irritating as I don't want it starting up in a bag where it can overheat and all.

    Thanks

This just happened to me the other day, but it was with sleep not hibernation. I was sitting next to it getting ready to pack it away and it just turned on (the screen was closed).

Check if the Wireless/LAN driver has Wake-On LAN, or Wake from Shut-Down, or 'Allow this device to wake the computer' -- Enabled....??

If any of those options in the two drivers are enabled, disable them. You can check the driver properties in Device Manager.

Some notebooks also have the wake-on LAN feature in the BIOS, so checkout the BIOS as well.

I have already disabled the Wake on LAN in both the BIOS and in Windows.

And the wake-up options in the driver's power management window ?

    (Also disable Automatic Updates)

yeah, I went to devices manager and right click on the wifi card and unchecked the boxes in the driver's power management tab.

But i have always had automatic updates on and never had a problem with hibernating the computer.. oh well, I'm still gonna give it a try.

Also check the USB controller's power management settings.

Check the Scheduled Task Log, and see which events have caused the system to wake-up. (Enable - Show Hidden Tasks)

I checked the USB controller settings... and the "allow this device to wake up the computer" are all off..

where can i find the task log?

I did that, but it only told me the wake history count and didnt list the events that caused the system to wake up

    Thanks for helping tho!

it turned out to be a program call "System Mechanic Professional"
I disabled that, and my laptop stays off when it's in hibernation now.

    Thanks for helping!
