enjoy!
For all those who tried version 005 this morning and had problems and got an error there is a new version now 006
-
yea!
-
Finally, I can use it. :twitcy: It works nicely. However, when I loaded it, the brightness of the screen went to the lowest setting (forcing me to brighten up the display again). How does one prevent that from happening again?
-
Are you running on battery? You can tell it not to control screen brightness. Thats what I did.
-
just installed and noticed the cpu temp readings are different compared to the readings from RMclock (49C in nhc and 39C using rmclock, with both using the same undervolted voltages). a difference in 10C is a lot
however i dont feel my laptop is hot at all so i'd say this new nhc is not correctly displaying the temp -
49° C is not high. Mine is at 46°C right now when idel. It might be that one of them is not reading the CPU but the chipset temp. or some other temp that the mainboard is displaying. Hard to say which is right.

Sweeeeeeeeeeet!

Yay, been waiting for this
-
I have been using this for few hours now. It's nice, but doesn't windows already have a power management program? Also, I now have two programs running in Vista: NHC and Windows' power management. Which one is actually controlling the processor's speed, etc.?
-
hopefully like NHC others will follow suit
i guess its just a matter of time before the others are out too
by the time Sp1 is out most of the softwares will support vista -

I have waited a long time for this. Finally one reason to upgrade to Vista. I would like to hear if it is working correctly with Vista.
-
Works fine for me. Albeit, there are a few conflicts between having 3 power programs... NHC, WPM (Windows Power Management), and my lenovo thinkpad software...
-
i'm using asus A8Js and dynamic switching is not working.
CPU speed is stuck at 2GHz or stuck at whatever multiplier the undervoltage test last ran on. ACPI controls have conflict with asus p4gx..... -
Yeah dynamic switching is messed up a bit. Manni said there is a problem especially if you use more then one power managment tool. Vista has much more power managment stuff build in and most computers come with manufactuer tools for it. Too many tools blocking each other.
-
I'm seeing some issues with my W7J, although I have not had time to look carefully through the settings.
I'm also finding the ACPI settings that worked in XP are bugging in Vista. -
If you have problems I recomend you post them here: http://www.p35-forum.de/board/board.php?boardid=73
It's the offical forum or atleast I know Manni (the develpoer) posts there and answers questions.
It is all still beta and it will take him alot of time to make all the features work perfectly in Vista. He keeps complaining that it is alot harder to program for Vista compared to XP. -
Finally - the best ATI/INTEL control program available for Vista. I must admit it is one of the best system softwares I have ever seen.
Thanks.

Could somebody enlighten me why the heck you should actually use NHC under Vista??? Don't get me wrong, I used it under XP and it is a great tool but Vista made it obsolete. There is absolutely nothing that NHC does, that can't be done with Vista itself.
Lower CPU clock, lower voltage and much much more can be done using Vista power plans. I've three power plans on my SZ. One for full throttle, one balanced that switches the clock according to load and one power saver which also runs without any fan activity at all. CPU clocks at 1GHz per core and the voltage is forced down to 0.95V. Even NHC can't get any lower because it is a hardware design limit in the CPU.
Why the heck use NHC unde Vista and waste the RAM??? -
Can you undervolt the highest multiplier used in games? When the most heat difference can be observed? And when your gpu produces much more heat actually heating the cpu as it is usually under the same heatsink? Then the undervolting at the highest multiplier shows its benefits. Not at idle and 0.95V.
Can you overclock your ati card if you have it? Ati tray tools is far more advanced, but NHC does this with ease and elegance.
Many people like the temps view and overclocking and undervolting and disk management in the same little app.
Otherwise I agree with you - it is not obligatory - no one forces you to install it. I like the recording function though since I do a lot of overclocking and undervolting and NHC was and still is the best companion during that. I track the measurements and do some analysis afterwards. There is not so many software tools that make this so easy.
People are just happy to see the good old NHC on Vista. Nothing more.
I believe that 2,2Mb in my ram is still very well used with NHC. I still have 980MB free.
Cheers,

I have the Ultimate version and it's blocking NHC on startup. I don't really see any significant power saving with NHC. Vista seems like it's doing it's job with power management.
-
I successfully undervolted my proc with NHC down to 0.95V all multipliers and ran the stress test for hours with Ati tray tools doing the artifacts search and the temp went down from 74 to 63 in a lower fan speed and from 67 down to 54 in the higher speed.
Not a single glitch occured - that is enough for me considering the NHC. RM clock gave me only headaches.
Cheers,

having an issue with NHC. It was working fine, then i noticed a slowdown with Vista, I thought it was NHC. Went ahead and remove NHC, and after a week i decided to install NHC again...now all i get is blue screen, keeps on crashing vista. After booting into Vista it telsl me if I want to install NHC. I click on cancel but it keeps on asking if I want to install it after every reboot....wtf?? how could i remove NHC from the beginning of windows...???

solution back to xp for me. -
Ok so I disabled ACPI and that seemed to fix the LCD brightness problem, but does this disable ACPI for the entire computer? If so I really do not want that.
-
Also when I start windows vista it automatically blocks NHC , I want it to autostart but it gets blocked everytime! How do I fix this?
Thanks in advance. -
Go to msconfig and inable NHC
-
I think disabled ACPI makes most of the power features and temps unavailable.
Vista has UAC - try to disable that in order to start NHC without blocking.

NHC for Vista is out
