I just installed NHC on my new inspiron. I put it at max performance for about 3 minutes, but when i put it back down it said my hard disk is to hot. I put it back to dynamic switch and it was still hot. and now it is on max battery and it is still hot. it is 55* C. is that normal?

I don't think that is a good temperature. I ususally get 32-37 C and I haven't seen anyone's get that high. Try using I8Kfan and adjust the fan speeds.

The fan won't help the hard drive too terribly. 55 isn't horrible for a hard drive, but it isn't great. Keep an eye on those temps and you can switch the temp that the alarm pops up.

i used i8kfan to turn the fans on and it cooled my cpu significantly, but my hd stayed at 55. I have a 60 7200 rpm hd. does that matter?

actually my hd is staying cool now, but when dynamic switch puts my cpu on 1.6 my cpu heats up really fast(48+). I think one of those fan squares for underneath is the only thing that will help me.

I could be wrong, but I believe that hd temps don't show up if you have multiple hard drives... I have a hp dv8000t (2x80gb hd) and the hd temps don't show up, while everything else does.
