Can anybody tell me if the latest version of Dragons Naturally Speaking works as advertised, I want to write the next Great American Novel, but my typing stinks, my spelling isn't much better and I'm just too darn lazy ?!

Maybe writing wasn't meant for you? XP
Just make sure you don't have a cold or anything when you first train it and you'll be fine - I did, and I had to retrain it multiple times -
If you have Vista, you may also want to try out the built-in speech recognition.

I've been using DNS for many years. I'm not lazy and I'm good at typing, but I was having wrist and back pain, I think it was carpal tunnel. Anyway, DNS is fantastic. I started with the 7th edition and now I'm about to get DNS 10. It's very accurate--much more than Widows speech-recognition. But still, it makes mistakes and you do need to check the text. For instance, if you say 'effect', DNS might understand 'affect'; but the cool thing is that DNS can "read" your files and adapt to them and to your words.
Word of advice though, if you want to be a writer, you need to learn how to spell. Buy a dictionary first and then buy DNS.
