Need Help To Fix Boot Logo
OS Vista Home Premium/service pack 1
This is the best install I have ever done (or was) I did a fresh install and followed a tweak guide at http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=166532 which was to very enlightening, to say the least. From there I have been to a few other sites and moved on to fully customizing my desktop/login and well this is where I stuffed up My BOOT screen no longer works properly, even with the original winload.exe.mui file replaced.
I downloaded and used Vista Boot Logo Generator I loved the results on my last install It worked well. Upon deciding to do a fresh install with Tweaking in mind, I simply coppied over a Boot logo I made previously after allowing permissions and all that as well as changing the NO GUI in msconfig ect .BUT
The problem is as follows: ..The original auora background comes up?...and without the Windows is Loading Text???......I mean wtf I just moved and replaced the original file and I get this on reboot. I have tried making more logos but everytime I restart the same thing. I have disable and re-enabled the boot gui option in msconfig even putting back the original file does not get it working properly as the loading text is gone from that pic???
Is it something I stuffed up with permissions or some service I tweaked? I would love to fix the problem without reloading as I have put so much effort in thus far
Any Ideas would be great I will try them all!

I am not exactly certain that I understand what it is that you wish to do, but there is a helpful program that might help call WinBubble and others at the following address:

Sorry Jack,
I am trying to coppy over a file called "winload.exe.mui" )which I generated via a specialized program) and have it execute on bootup to show me the awesome art I designed for my bootup screen.
I followed the instructions based on the program and elsewhere on the net by first going runing ms-config and enabling [No GUI] on boot up...After restarting and seeing the original vista "aorua background" I knew things were going OK...I generated a "winload.exe.mui" file by following the instructions of the program called "Vista Boot Logo Generator"...and after giving myself permissions copied and replaced the original "winload.exe.mui" in the specified directory.......
This worked the first time around I tried it...However after I did my second fresh install and after I tweaked my system...I have been unsuccessful trying it out a second time...However the second time around...I just copied other the "winload.exe.mui" file from my storage drive instead of re-creating another one...On reboot...I still get the original "aorua background" but without the "Windows Vista is Loading text"...not only should the original not be there, it no longer works properly as it should (as per the missing text)...
What do I want to do........LOL....a solution would be great...but some discussion on why this may have happened would be good too...
I'll check that link out... but is'nt that buble thing...(as good as it looks a desktop thingy and not a boot thingy?....I'll go check it out....cheers -
SP1 changes the NO gui boot screen. Did you install it recently?
-
Hey Jack...
I don't know if that link will fix my problem...But I love the sound of that program...THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!...i,LL LET YOU KNOW -
MMMMMMMMMMMM....flipfire....you may be on to something with that...I remember wondering why I could not fins service pack one in the updates, then installed more drivers to get it...MMMMMMM...I cant say for sure with all the installing and updating...but I understand where your heading with that...
In fact...that is the kind of thing I am afraid of...a reg change or somthing to that effect at the wrong time, which I may not be able to fix...I reackon it could be........Thanks for mentioning that!!!!!! I honestly can't say but yea...for a fleating moment during my pondering on this matter I thought I may have enable "NO GUI" before the service pack 1 upgrade...MMMMMMM -
Yeah i think SP1 changes the boot screen background and removes the "starting windows" text

I use stardocks logonstudio it does anything you could want, I use one of there stock photos as my startup background and love it (the space themed one) but you can use your own pictures and tweak alot of things.

Yea...that's a kewl program and I've been using that for a while now. I've made some really slick looking Log-in screens...However My problem is directly related to the BOOT SCREEN...
I gather now that service pack 1, makes changes to the "winload.exe.mui" file. By the way; exactly what background does the change make other than take away the text, on the BOOT GUI?...just so I know If I am meant to have the aurora background still....
The weird thing is anyway; other than service pack 1 making changes..."should I not still be able to use the "Vista Logo Boot Generator" to change the boot screen anyway...
The big question is "what is stopping the generated file from working on boot up?" And can anyone else here Use the "Vista Logo Boot Generator" with service pack one, to change their gui BOOT SCREEN?
Thanks guys. -
OK..........I get it a little more now........something to do with the service pack one and its changing the kernel with boot up................surely there is something we can do......there must be a way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
yeah some genius will fix it sooner or later. look around for other programs that might be able to change the boot screen. They might have made a SP1 compliant

Oh sorry boot screen not logon screen
the only experience I have with boot screens is an option in bios to turn off/on the splash screen for the mobo company usually. Still you may want to poke in bios and see if there is anything there for you.

That's kewl Vicious.......I've also thought about changing my msi motherboard logo for a new post screen
...............anyways I am going to do a little update on my efforts last night and this morning on this major problem.
That would be awesome actually...a whole theme on POST/BOOT/LOGIN the DESKTOP..........could tell a story on that scenario.......I guess that is expecting too much!
