My Acer 5536 (with Vista) came with the Acer Arcade Deluxe Player. It seems to have an issue with some of the region codes. (I do have ADP setup to play USA/Canada.) However, when I use Windows Media Player, the SAME DVD plays just fine.

I am hoping you guys can point me in the direction of a good free DVD Player.

    Thank you, guys!

Why not use WMP, if it plays fine?

You still haven't mentioned why you don't want to use WMP since it plays your dvds "just fine". Now you're downloading players in a foreign language. Why?

WMP takes ALOT of space. You dont get to see the movie in full widescreen format because of all the junk WMP wants to display.

As for the other: the website shows an english version, but when I clicked on the link and installed it, it was a different language.

Double click in the middle of screen in WMP and it will go fullscreen.

The other media/DVD players suggested are great. I'll just suggest another alternative that you may want to try as well.

    AVS Media/DVD Player

Been using this for a year now and so far it's been great playing DVDs. It plays a wide variety of formats like VLC, but what I like best about it is the Surround Effect feature where "regular stereo movies can be watched with enhanced audio quality and imitated Multichannel surround sound (3.1, 5.1, 7.1 speaker configurations are supported)."

It's still being updated to new versions as of this year and is completely free without any annoying advertisements, limitations of features, etc.

Lastly, it only takes up around 14MB as an installed program (although I'm not sure if the newer versions take up more space as I haven't updated mine).
