One of my friend's parents are having this problem and I have no idea what it could be.

They say that whenever they click on a link (no matter what the link may be - in MSN, in their Email, or a link in IE7) it opens a new page saying "This page cannot be displayed" error.

What adinu said is true though... the "This page cannot be displayed" error only comes up when there's something wrong with your internet connection and you can't connect to the internet.

Check whether the Work offline mode is ticked.

    The Internet works fine...
They can check their Email or get on MSN. It's just when they click on a link that this happens. Once that happens, if they press refresh a few times the page will show up.

I thought it was the Internet but I don't know why it just stops working everytime they open a new page.

Aren't these some of the reasons a lot of us have ditched IE and went for Firefox?

    no.

it was the lack of Active X and (at the time) the ability of tabbed browsing.

this problem has nothing to do with the browser. there's a problem lower down the "stack" somewhere in the Network layer i would presume.

I'm sorry, I must have misread the title--it apparantly says:

I have a problem, but I don't want anyone to help fix it....instead, let's have some wiseguys make fun of my problem, or reset the same old tired "MS sucks" cliche.

Guys, if you cannot help, or unwilling to help, move along--just don't expect help when you need it. People come here looking for assistance, not arrogance or supposed attempts at humor

    Thibault,

    START > RUN
    type

    regsvr32 urlmon.dll

Click OK, and then click OK again when you see

    DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded

    Reboot

    See if that works
