Hello, i've just bought a new laptop. It's a Asus A2500H, but it's withuot OS. I'd like to install Win XP pro, but i don't know how.......... Al i can see, is that when i turn my laptop on, it show's on the screen: "invalid system disc. Replace the disc, and press any key".
What should i do to reach at least BIOS, or something like that, to start installing Win Xp? I would really appreciate your help.........
P.S don't laugh at my stupid post, but it's my first laptop........

Did you get the windows xp pro full version or upgrade version. If you got upgrade it won't work because there isn't a version of windows already installed. Also the disk might need formatting. Boot up without the cd in it and you should get like a DOS prompt. put in the command format C: at least I think it should work like that. I've never worked from an unformatted hard drive, but try that and see it works.

If your not sure whether you got xp upgrade or xp full the pro versions cost $200 for the upgrade and $300 for the full version.

I'm trying to install the same XP's, which i've installed to my desktop........ Or do i need some special version of Windows, which are for laptops only?
About formating: the problem is, that i can only see in my screen this: "invalid system disc.Replace.........". No comand prompt,no nothing..... What do i have to do, to skip this screen?

As Zuggy mentioned, you need a bootable version of XP Pro before you can install the OS. But here's a few things you can try to see if it helps.

    1. Go into the BIOS and make sure it's set to boot from CD
    2. Insert XP CD into drive and restart system
    3. If the CD is bootable, it should ask you to "Hit Any Key To Boot From CD", hit any key on your keyboard
    4. Install process should start, just follow instructions

The error you're getting "Invaid System Disc" is because the HDD is not formatted or has no OS on it. Make sure you follow the steps I listed and it should work for you. You just have to make sure the CD is a full bootable version of XP Pro. I'm not sure how to get into the BIOS in an ASUS notebook, but you should have a message as soon as you turn on your notebook on what to hit to get into Setup or BIOS.

Legally, if you've done it on your desktop you shouldn't be using this on your notebook. But, in any case, how did you install it in your desktop? Did you just insert the CD and upgrade the OS or did you put it into the drive and boot off the CD?

When i was installing XP to my dekstop, i formated the c: disc, booted from the Win XP cd, and installed it to my desktop PC. No upgrade was done. Now i'm trying to use the same cd, so it must be bootable, because, as i said, last time i booted from it. But the biggest problem for me now, is how to get to BIOS. I don't really know, how does it look like. Is it the same blue BIOS, that i see in my desktop PC, or does it look differently? When i turn my laptop, i press ESC for couple of times, i see this in my screen:
    "Select boot device:
    1. IC25N040ATMR04-0
    2. ASUS SCB-2408
So is this thing is called BIOS or what?
