I've been trying to figure out how to disable wmpnscfg.exe at start up and think I've found a fix that calls for changing a registry value.
I'd go ahead and do it but I don't know how and I don't want to screw up. I've navigated to the pic below, but I'm still not sure how to do the steps in bold.

Right click in an empty space and create a new DWORD value and name it DisableDiscovery. Set the Value to 2.
Also, before you do this, make sure you file>export a backup to the desktop or something for a few days. If everything is ok, then it's alright to delete the backup.
IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG, I AM NOT HELD RESPONSIBLE. EDITING THE REGISTRY CAN BE DANGEROUS. YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN. -
I'll do the back up anyway, but if I screw up the edit for WMP, can it cause damage elsewhere? -

What happened to the edit feature? -
I think I figured it out. Wish me luck.

Looks like it worked. Bye, bye WMPNSCFG.exe!
Thanks!
PS Edit button is back. What's with that? -
