    Hello,
My lexmark X4550 will not work since Windows 7 upgrade on my Sony Vaio VGN FZ-290. I've tried updating drivers from Windows, and Lexmark (32 bit version).
Please let me know if you can help. The printer doesnt get detected on my computer.
    Thank you for your time.

I am guessing that you have Windows 7 home premium. If you had the 7 Pro you could use XP mode for this. I have looked at several posts stating that it does not work in Windows 7. The posts where they have it working it does not completely function correctly. This does not mean there is not a solution though. So keep looking.

Did you try Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>View Devices and Printers? Right click the Lexmark and remove it. Then try add a printer from there.

There are Vista drivers available from Lexmark for both 32 and 64-bit OS if the above does not work. Download and try those. They should work if Win 7 finds no drivers.

just found this that says its not compatible HERE but in the tech spec of the printer it says it is.

i had exactly the same problem going from xp to vista. in the end i had to dump a pro lexmark printer as it just would not work.
lexmark seem to like doing this sort of thing so you have to buy another one.
