    Need help opening a wps file

    I have received an email with a wps extension. I have not been able to open it altho I downloaded Microsoft Office Word Viewer 2003 it didn't work. I have Windows Vista Home. Please advise how I might open this file.

    Do you even know who the sender is? You might ask them what to open it with.

    WPS sounds fishy to me, though I do not know why.

    wps is a microsoft works word processor file,sort of like .doc for microsoft word, but it should open normally with microsoft word though :S

    This is pretty universal... Next time you want to know what application opens an unfamiliar extension, look it up @ www.filext.com

    Thats a Microsoft Works (oxymoron... ;)) file...

    You can use Microsoft Word to open it.

    Or use the MS Office free alternative suite... Open Office.

    Neither Word or Open Office would do it. Thanks to Prasad007 for the link altho the "lecture" was not helpful! Anyway, problem solved and thanks for the quick replies. Great forum.
